Rust Oxidant for Iron

RUSTOX™ is the reagent developed by Molteni Vernici to create authentic natural oxidations on iron, transforming the surface through a true chemical reaction rather than a simple decorative effect. Each application generates unique shades of red, orange, and brown, restoring the full expressive power of natural rust.

Developed by the Molteni Vernici Research and Development Center, RUSTOX™ reacts exclusively with iron and with PowerMetal™ Iron PM-2480 liquid metal, activating a real oxidation process that enhances the material and accompanies its natural aesthetic evolution. The result is a living surface, rich in depth and characterized by continuous chromatic variations that make each creation unique.

Designed for the world of interior and outdoor design, high-end furniture, luxury retail, hospitality, contract, marine, and architecture, RUSTOX™ is ideal for boutiques, flagship stores, hotels, resorts, showrooms, contemporary villas, museums, art installations, and exclusive residences. It finds application on decorative panels, doors, boiserie, scenic walls, reception desks, counters, sculptural elements, coatings, custom furniture, and architectural details where the authenticity of the material becomes an integral part of the project.

Unlike traditional decorative finishes, RUSTOX™ does not reproduce the effect of rust, but generates a true oxidation of iron, allowing the material itself to build its own aesthetic language. Each surface develops unique shades, giving the project an authentic, natural, and deeply material character.

The ready-to-use single-component formulation can be applied by spray, brush, or immersion, easily adapting to both artisanal craftsmanship and industrial processes, and allowing for the treatment of small, medium, and large elements.

RUSTOX™ can be used both indoors and outdoors through specific application cycles. Oxidized surfaces can then be protected with Molteni Vernici's specific systems to stabilize the aesthetic result and ensure high performance resistance to atmospheric agents, UV rays, wear, and detergents.
