What is the velvet effect finish?

The Velvet Effect Finish is a varnished coating that gives the surface a soft tactile micro-texture, similar to velvet fabric, with a deep opaque appearance and an enveloping feeling to the touch.

Unlike a standard matte surface, the velvet effect is distinguished by:

  • Soft-feel tactility — perceptible softness upon direct contact
  • Deep opacity — Total Absence of Reflections and Micro-Brilliance
  • Controlled micro-texture — Homogeneous surface with no visible grain
  • Anti-fingerprint — resistance to fingerprints
  • Multisensory experience — integration of sight and touch

Standard cycle: preparation → primer → base color → soft-feel finish → controlled seasoning. Technical data sheets and certifications on request.

FAQ

What's the difference between velvet effect and soft-touch?

The velvet effect has a more pronounced softness and a deeper opacity than the standard soft-touch. It is the premium version of the Molteni Vernici family of tactile finishes.

Does the velvet effect finish leave fingerprints?

No. The system is formulated with anti-fingerprint properties that prevent visible fingerprints from forming on the surface.

Is it wear-resistant?

Yes. The micro-texture is integrated into the paint film and resists daily abrasion. The resistance parameters are documented in the technical data sheets.

In which colors is it available?

On any color with RAL, NCS or on a sample. The velvet finish is particularly striking on dark and neutral tones.

Is it suitable for horizontal surfaces?

Yes. The finish is formulated to withstand daily contact even on tops, tables and shelves.

What is the visual difference compared to the standard opaque?

The velvet effect has a deeper opacity, without micro-reflections, and a tactilely soft surface that traditional opaque does not offer.

How do you clean a velvet effect surface?

With soft, slightly damp microfiber cloth. Avoid aggressive detergents that could alter the micro-texture.

Is it also available in a transparent version?

Yes. The transparent velvet finish maintains the color or grain of the support, adding only the soft-feel tactility.

Are there technical data sheets and certifications available?

Yes. Complete documentation with strength, adhesion, shine and anti-fingerprint classification parameters. ISO/EN certifications on request.

How long does the application cycle take?

The full cycle takes 7-10 days, including seasoning to achieve optimal tactility.
