What is the verdigris effect finish?

The Verdigris Effect Finish (or copper patina) is a coating that reproduces the intense green that forms on copper through oxidation and atmospheric carbonation. The natural patina takes decades; the varnished finish reproduces it immediately.

Unlike oxidized bronze, verdigris is distinguished by:

  • More intense and opaque green — Full and Vibrant Tone
  • Copper base — warm copper background visible in shades
  • Historical Connotation — Evokes Domes, Statues and Classical Architecture
  • Organic distribution — natural and irregular pattern
  • Permanent stability — Doesn't Evolve Over Time

Cycle: preparation → primer → copper base → green patina → protective transparent.

FAQ

What is the difference between verdigris copper and oxidized bronze?

The verdigris has a more intense and opaque green, with a copper base. Oxidized bronze has cooler blue-green tones, with a bronze base. Verdigris is historically associated with copper roofing.

Does the green patina continue to evolve?

No. The painted finish is stable and does not evolve. The patina remains as applied, protected by the transparent.

Is it suitable for external roofs and facades?

Yes, with UV-resistant transparent. It is one of the most classic architectural applications of verdigris.

On which materials does it apply?

Copper, brass, steel, aluminum, wood, MDF and composites. Each support has a specific cycle.

Is it possible to modulate the intensity of the green?

Yes. From light verdigris (more coppery with green hints) to intense verdigris (dominant green).

How is it maintained over time?

Minimal maintenance. When outside, check the protective cover periodically.

Is it compatible with architectural restoration?

The finish reproduces the aesthetics of historic verdigris. It is ideal for creative restoration and integration with original elements.

Are there technical data sheets available?

Yes. Complete documentation with ISO/EN parameters and certifications on request.

How long for the application?

The cycle takes 8-12 days for patina layering and complete hardening.

How much does it cost compared to real copper?

Much less than copper in plates. It eliminates processing costs, weight and natural oxidation times.
